What did you do to your X150 today?
 

I've long read a similar post in the X350 forum. A lot of interesting responses posted there. Fun reading. So in addition to your singular posts, please add to this one.

I'll start it off. Over the winter, I had my wheels powder coated. I let them sit in storage for a few months and ultimately, they weren't the color I ordered so I'm having them redone. Original shop is refunding me.

Today I installed 10XK's "boot power point for CTEK". It is a simple mod that really simplifies plugging in the maintainer and a good test point for battery voltage. Perhaps not as exciting as other mods but a very functional one.

My winter project was to fabricate a back seat cover to give the vert a more sporty look. Unfortunately, I'm waiting for word from my upholstery shop that it is finished. It will be in another post when it comes back and I can get final photos of it.

This thread is a great idea, thanks for starting it Sean. Over on the 928 Forum someone started a thread with exact same title (except 928 instead of X150) seven years ago and it now has over 647,000 views.

Wow, thank you for that, to be honest I am finding it even more functional then even I thought it would be..oh BTW, it is 10XKR, not 10XK..LOL

Yes, please keep us updated on what you come up with, I would be interested in doing something similar.

Sounds familar, having sort of a ruff day health wise and the only time spent with mine was pondering when I am going to feel up to doing a fluid change on my Transmission and E-Diff.
Magical Jaguar E-Diff fluid is shipped, just trying to figure out the best place to get Trans Kit.

Ordered a new footrest from Spain for about $60. delivered. Will show pictures when delivered and installed.

82K miles on my 2007 XK. I had the 19" Carelia wheels refinished a couple of weeks ago in a dark grey metallic powder coat. That resulted in a big difference in the car's appearance.

I am now working on replacing the coolant system hoses and the coolant reservoir on the right side of the car. Last year I did the hoses on the left side and top of the engine including the valley hose that required removing the intake manifold. The little hose which connects the coolant reservoir to the aluminum piping that leads to the cabin heater core was looking a bit weird - a little bead of dried coolant seemed to be coming out of the end of the rubber hose. Maybe that was the cause of the slight whiff of coolant that could be smelled from time to time.

As Ranchero50 previously reported, the new coolant reservoir has a 200 KPa cap (29 psi). Do the newer XK actually have a 200 Kpa cap on the system? If yes, no wonder the engine coolant pump is failing so rapidly. I will reinstall the original cap rated at 120 KPa (17 psi).

I had bought the engine coolant pump, serpentine belt, idler pulley and tensioner pulley; but am not sure whether to put forth the effort required to replace those right now. I might wait another year to do those... During cold winter months something is making a noise which goes away after the engine warms up, so my thought is that one of the pulleys has a slight amount of excessive clearance.

Bought mine almost a year ago. Since then I have:
-Driven it >17,000 miles
-Changed the oil
-Was rear-ended. Got the car repaired. Looks great!
-Broke the side marker light somehow. (Car wash is my best suspect) Ordered new one yesterday.


That is about it. Need to fix the glove compartment, it now has the drop problem. Need to fix the leather on the drivers seat that came unattached. The car has been pretty much worry free so far!

Picked it up from my indy specialist, after getting:

• New water pump (leaking, bearings almost seized)
• New front discs (severe corrosion)
• New gearbox filter & fluid
• New screen washer pump (minimal flow)
• New pedestrian protection sensors (kept getting fault on dash)
• New brake fluid

Ger rrrready to rrrrrumble!

It is also pretty ironic when I look at the actual crossover section in your pic, it looks very familiar to one of my products I developed 13 or so years ago. I wanted a Modular System that the guys could easily (that's is relative) remove the cats for track use etc, then swap back for the street, and some I am sure only swapped back for emissions testing. Of course that would be illegal :-)

Sorry if it is a little off topic, but it may give others some similar ideas for their XKs. That crossover is readily available and is inexpensive, IIRC it is a Magnaflow part.

I put one on mine a couple of months ago and it changes the exhaust note quite a bit.

I wasn't sure about it at first because it seemed to lose some of the base and noise on the over run but once I had put the XKR-S tune on it changed again and the pops and bangs on the over run came back with a vengeance.

Per Texas Traveler and 10XKR's posts, I updated my interior and trunk lights to LED to match the exterior lighting on my 2013. While the resulting look is certainly more modern and consistent overall, I'm not sure I necessarily like it. The old incandescents on my truffle (dark brown) interior gave a warm, inviting glow and made it feel like a dimly-lit clubroom. The stark white LEDs, on the other hand, make you feel like you're in a lab or a convenience store. They are 10x better though if you're actually trying to read or look for something in the car.

I understand completely, I felt the same at first. After about a week or so I couldn't imagine it any other way. I found when I actually used the lights as intended, you know to see something or find something, I ended up liking them very well. If after trying it for a while and you don't feel the same, look for some of the Osram or Sylvania LED replacements as they give a good clean light but much dimmer, closer to the output of the originals..

I stared at my XK sitting up on my lift waiting for the powder coated wheels. When he said 2 weeks, I was hoping he was kidding and wonder why they don't just let you bring it in two weeks when they say they can get to it. At least within a day or two would be nice.
