What Have You Found to be Best Tire?
 

I need some new front tires. But the Dunlop Super Sport Maxx that came on my XKR are $467 each... Before I spend another $1k I need to be committed to that tire because the rears will be needed before the end of the year.

What have you found to be a good balance of steering feel, grip, quiet?

I Bought a cheap pair of Nankang tiers off the net £103 each 2 years ago (Money was tight) they have done 15k miles and i recon i got another 5 possibly 10k left in them The pirellis i had on there only did 15k and they were £530 each

The Michelin Pilot Sport AS Plus are decent balance of everything. Not as extreme as I thought they'd be in terms of grip. I am big fan Bridgestone Potenza S03 or S04; cost just slightly less expensive than the Michelin with epic wet weather performance and really quiet.

I had P Zero Nero AS on my VDP and thought they were sportier than the Conti Contact's, but slightly harder driving. Not nearly as noisy as some make them out to be. Actually they were pretty quiet, but only got 5K out of them before selling the car.

I've really enjoyed the Michelin PSS on my other sports car so far. I'll be replacing my factory Dunlops with them when it's time.

I'm a Bridgestone person myself and will be looking hard at the S-04 when its my turn. The Conti SportContact DW is a great runner up.


If money/fast wear wasn't an issue I'd leap at my third set of Bridgestone RE-11's, as they simply set the bar that all other tires struggle to match. With a 180 wear (and noisy), they are all about cornering fun, wet or dry....

I'm on the Michelin Pilot Sport AS Plus right now and they seem adequate for the casual driver. Personally, I push my car and I'm not happy with grip or the feedback they give me in the corners.... Very vague and they are agonizingly slow to recover when you exceed their limits.

For an AS tire, I've run Bridgestone 960AS and was very pleased with the grip, but my aggressive drives ate the smaller tread blocks far too quickly. I see the newer version (970AS) has less siping and beefed up blocks so they may be a good all season contender now.
I've also run Goodyear F1 All Season and hated the noise....
