What would you consider buying after your XK/XKR
I could buy a newer Aston model year or much newer XKR-S by the time it comes for a replacement, so I guess unless there's a stroke of fortune ahead of me, it sounds like the Ferrari may not be in the cards. Personally, I think the front engine models would be my preference; they seem more designed for real world driving and servicing.
All three would be cars I'd consider as well. I need a daily driver, do you think the 360 would work? My hunch is it would fare better as a daily driver than garage queen, but Ferrari quality has me on the fence whether it would be more reliable than an Aston; sticky buttons, shrinking leather and all....
I know the Jag is solid, and the Maserati is pretty good. I'd also have to do something for GPS and Bluetooth on the 360 as is wasn't offered that far back as far I know...

no, dont use the Ferrari 360 as DD, I see you live in Boston too. things are different out west in AZ/CA/NV where roads are A+ yr around.
my thought is buy a nice sports car and have a DD such as an old sedan, or pick up truck to do everything else. if i needed a DD Is buy a clean 2004 Lincoln LS for like $7k-$8k and take care of it but never worry about it then drive your sports car as you please. having s DD will probably be cheaper in the long run then running a 360 day in and day out.
that is how I am with my XKR. my high mile BMW does all the grunt work then I enjoy my XKR more. my theory is own the nicest sports car you can and have a DD sedan that is good for many years and always keep that around.
plus it would allow me to sell my JAG and take my time to shop around. vs doing the trade in shuffle and if things got tight financially I can sell the sports car and have a sedan still. I would not be "car less"

A little gloating...I own a 2012 XKR Black on Black with Black Pack, as well as a bought brand new 2013 XKR-S in Italian Racing Red. I love these cars....the 12 has 11,500 miles, the 13 has 1300 miles. I think I am good for a LONG TIME as I never plan to sell either as long as their mechanical failures are limited I will keep both a long time (till my own mechanical failures)
Luckily the XKR-S has not chirped since they insulated the e-brake cables. The XKR has been flawless and the paint corrected fantastically despite its abuse from its previous owner and carmax.....I did have to have the front splitter taken off, repainted, and re-installed as well as complete replacement of the spoiler which warped (Jag did not reimburse me....wonder how good that warranty is?)
My thoughts on what "new" I would get when the time comes:
1- Used XKR-S convertible. Just makes sense to take the top off I guess.. even though I like it on?
2- Used F-Type...leaning more toward a fully loaded used V6S... I would LOVE for Jag to squeeze out some more HP from it... Can they get it to 400hp? To me it sounds better
I would take a V6S as is for the right price...how low does everyone seeing a V6S F-Type depreciating over the next several years? Will they become more common because of it? I hope so for Jaguar!!!! Less barely used cars = more new sales!!
3- A Land Rover evoque. Heck with it....I got 2 GT'S... time for a proper SUV.
To heck with anything else but a Jag...
A little bit of everything for the person that wants...EVERYTHING = Jaguar!!

One of the bigger drawbacks of a Ferrari that I could afford is lack of features I have become use to like SAT NAV, Bluetooth, heated seats. I doubt there are many if any that have those features under 100K.
Would like to drive a Gran Turismo to see how that one is. I drove an '07 Qporte; fun but not as raw as I would've hoped for. Felt like an Acura RL in a fancy suit with a little growl under the hood. I know they can transformed with electronics and exhaust to something special.
I'm considering selling the XKR to buy an 80s XJS V12 coupe and converting it to a manual. XJS's are really cheap right now and I can imagine they will only get more and more expensive in the future!
Are ones in excellent body and mechanical condition really cheap, because otherwise I imagine they will only get more expensive in the future if you try to repair or drive them. Always less expensive to buy a restored older car like that, and you can usually buy them for considerably less than the previous owner invested in it.
When I say really cheap, I mean about $8,000-10,000 will buy you a low mileage good condition (rust free and glossy) XJS. But if the V12s are really a nightmare in terms of reliability, maybe I better reconsider!
Although this would not be a primary car, just a toy!

You're better buying a late model XJS with a manual and inline 6. A buddy of mine has one and then put a super charged engine in it. A lot of work went into, but it's a work of art now. Even with the standard engine it was a fun car. No sunroof. I was looking into an XJS V12 and putting a manual in it. The Jag shop gets a lot of XJS for like 5K that are in fantastic shape. My uncle had that was owned by the drummer of Extreme.
