What's the coldest you're willing to drive with the top down?
 

OK, so curious convertible owners, what is the coldest temperature that you're still willing to drive with the top down?

For me, around 68F and less so if the sun ain't shining at least a bit.

And you'll do it, but you'd much rather it be...what ideal temp?

I’m a low 70s guy. These are not the most climate control ergonomic cars— although I find the X150s better at heat/cool than the x100. However, compared to a Miata, those cool and heat the cabin really well so the temperature swing for topless is greater.

Windows up with light jackets and hats we're good just under 60*......though the wife reminds me we've done mid 50s many times.
When driving in the mountains it can easily dip into the low 50s at elevation, even on warm sunny 70* days.

Who cares. This is crap.

Pretty much any low, but I don't drive the 'vert much when it's cold regardless.
For purpose of this thread though, I'll lower the top below freezing IF I will be out for awhile. My reasoning is that I don't want to fold and unfold the top in cold temps without reason. During the SUMMER, the top is down pretty much all the time. Only exceptions is when Wifey is with me and the ride is long, as she gets burned quite easily.

That would be 45*F when driving to the golf course. With heated seats and steering wheel it's not a problem. I also read that you shouldn't put the top down in 35*F temps as it may damage it. By the way 45 is the lowest I play golf in too.

With all the windows (4) up and the diverter behind the front seat installed 50-55 degrees f. I can use the various heating device to keep the open cabin temp comfortable.

50's. (Found I could go lower with the Mercedes.)

I think you thought I understood what you wrote, but what I read was not what you meant.

Not sure what the temperature is but when my nose turns blue then my nuts are frozen. That's when I know it's too cold to drive with the top down.

It was in the 30s (F) one December with no snow a couple years ago, had the top down to check out the Christmas lights around town, that was nice.

The score improves the longer you drink or I mean play. The back 9 is usually better and funnier.

Did the exact same thing with my kids one year. With the hot air blowing, heated steering wheel and heated seats on, and some hot cocoa, we loved it.

I just don't get the appeal of driving with the top down and the heat blasting? What am I missing?
I do enjoy my motorcycle with the top down all the time however. :)

When I had my '69 Torino GT vert the top stayed down pretty much all the time. Lots of trips home at night with a blanket over the knees watching the stars. Snow flurries were very cool. Wasn't a big fan of rain but as long as I kept it above 50 most of it went over my head.

I'll ride the bike down to about 45` with chaps and leathers. Below that and I just takes too long to warm back up once I get cold soaked.
