Wheel spacers installed - 2010 XK

So, after looking at a bunch of pictures from those who have done this I picked up a pair of 15mm spacers a member here who had an extra set. Figure I'll get another set of 15mm's but wanted to see what they'd look like before ordering the 2nd set in case I wanted a different size. Glad I did, I think the rear looks a bit off at 15, but I like the front. Thinking maybe 5 or 10 for the rear rather than 15. Whaddya'll think?

Before on left, after on right.

The 15mm are Part #: 3035634 Trak + spacers. Easy install with the Kalimnos wheels as they have spots in the back of the wheel for the stock bolts to fit so no grinding or cutting is necessary.

I haven't driven it much at all other than a quick lap around the block so can't comment on ride just yet. I moved both to the front wheels while I determine what size to go with for the rears.

Don't you think its better keeping 15 on both?
so anybody could do it, any tire shops?

I will appreciate any help from those with spacers, I do not feel good putting less in the rear than front. is it ok 15 mm front and rear? some did 20 and 5? so its a big difference?

Looking good...you need to lower it a little now to finish the job, it will make the stance much better and the wheels fill the arches

Wider wheel bigger gap

I noticed this when I added the wider wheels... The more the wheels come out, optically the fender gap looks bigger!

So, I agree with spacing and lowering together.

I'm hesitant to do springs because I don't want to mess too much with the geometry and end up burning through the inside edge of tires. My two previous vehicles did that just in their stock setup.

If you've lowered what has your experience been with tire wear and what kind of springs did you install?

You'll be fine, I went down 35mm and the workshop got the geometry back in the green with no negative camber or weird angles. Mine sits quite low and I get a slight bit of rubbing with full fuel tank.
If you're worried about rubbing the front bumper on curbs etc, even a 15mm will help those wheels sit better in the arches, I think a few people here have 25mm drop, they can report their findings.

Here's mine:

I will pass finally I don't want to lower it to fill the gap. I think we achieve a tied suspension in dynamic mode anyway just like if it was lowered.

Looks like those are non-factory wheels? They stick out a bit too far in the back with the spacers. With my '08 XK with factory stock wheels I found 20mm front and 15mm rear to be the ideal setup for looks and handling. I initially installed 20mm on the rears as well but, they were too far out for my preference. If you have to use only 5 or 10 mm spacers, there is a good chance that you will have to cut (shorten) the factory wheel studs as they might touch the inside of your wheels.

As to lowering. The rear of the XKs do not have any camber adjustment. Mine is set up for about 1.25 degree negative at the rears which is plenty enough for street usage. If you lower the car, depending on the suspension geometry, you're liable to get more negative camber that will tend to wear the inside tire edges.

No. Mine are standard setanta wheels. The sun was in a weird angle giving flare and shiny bits making them stand out. The wheels sit perfectly in the arches with no sticking out. Try this pic:

Thanks Albert, I have the same wheel and I believe they are factory wheels, or at least with the 10 xkr.
I will feel weird having less in mm spacers in the rear than front.
Do they carry the same spacers in 10 mm only?
This is a bad quality?

Have you got a chance to drive it and do you experience a better ride?

What do you think about 10 mm all 4 wheels?

So,the newer wheels appear to come with a different offset compared to my '08. No problem.

As to the availability of 10mm spacers I could only recommend to get in touch with H&R. Their website lists the 15 mm for the '10 XKR applications. I do know that they make 5 and 10mm spacers, just not sure if for the XK specs.

Thanks a lot Albert!

I am looking for some 10 mm spacers in alu, i think it's enough cause i don't want mess my wheels while parking.

rscultho 06-12-2013 05:17 AM

I did 15MM all around with the Nevis wheels. I agree it does amplify the fender gap, which I hope to remedy in the near future by lowering the car 10 to 15MM, depending on where I can get springs.

Do you feel a difference with the ride?

The steering is "sharper", and the ride "feels" more planted. I do need to lower it with new springs. The ride should improve even more.

Evoking reported that when he put the springs on, his ride was firmer but not harsh, and that the "bouncy" ride was gone. I understand what he means with the "bouncy" reaction of the stock springs.

I do like how your wheels turned out. Nice!
