XK Air Induction Kit
Does anyone know if there is a performance air filter kit available for the 2007on n/a XK (X150)?
I know there is a panel filter available, but I was thinking more like a cone filter induction kit for that added roar/suction... There are universal kits available but I'm not even sure where the air box is located and if there's space for a cone? Has anybody fitted the K&N panel filter? Did it make any difference? Any info appreciated. |
check out thread "Another happy XKR owner" on the second page and we had a side discussion about filters where I referenced pics of another owners installation and some additional thoughts about the value of air filters was added by another...

The supercharger specialists who fitted my exhaust and who have a dyno say they have tried all sorts of filters and inductions kits on a number of supecharged cars and have found no effective benefit on the dyno from changing filters etc. The reasons they give are that because the supercharger is a pump it will almost always be able to get sufficient air (within reason) I think they concede you can get some improvement with natural induction.
The same cannot be said of exhaust where there are always compromises forced by legislation (CATS and noise). I was amazed by the difference my quicksilver exhaust made expecting very little and getting 20+ hp at the wheels on the dyno (26-27fwhp) A replacement cat exhaust should make a significanat additional difference. Having said that I understand it is feasible to relace the panel filter with a cone filter which K&N say will alow 2X as much air. The filter space is accessed though the wheel arch I believe and I recall seeing a blog which said there was plenty of space to do it. |
I have just the K&N Filter on mine, which is the same motor really. Even with it you get a noticeable change in gas mileage (for the better) and a little bit more noise from the engine. Plus its cheap, you cant go wrong!
