XK - Sales Figures
 

The first production XK is SAJAC43P575B00379 and the last produced is SAJAC45R7FMB56794 giving a total of 56415 vehicles. The major markets of Europe and the US accounted for 51461 of the vehicles sold. With another 1288 units going to Canada, the entire rest of the World only took 3666.

Although I was able to find a breakdown of sales by Coupe/Convertible and Normally Aspirated/Supercharged for the X100 a few years ago, the same has not been possible for the X150.

The monthly figures for earlier years were available until recently but have disappeared which may be as a result of recent amendments to European Data Protection regulations. Interesting to see one European Dealer sold the last XK in April 2018 - almost four years after production ended.

No problems in obtaining the complete monthly figures for the US but Canada is only partial:

I'd like to find documented sources for the missing monthly figures for Europe and Canada. This information will only become more difficult to obtain as time passes.

Good to know. Wonder coupe vs convertible...Considering they made 950,00 Corolla's and over 1,000,000 F series trucks in 2018 that's pretty low production in the scheme of things

It must have been devastating for Jaguar. The previous X100 production totalled 90616 with 50048 sold in the US. The X150 shows a significant downturn from 2010 despite the 5.0 litre.

There is one in Nigel Thorley's book but it is only by year, not month. The total produced is lower as well.

He's missing the data from 2014

He does note that at the bottom of the table so I wonder if he means that the 2014 sales are bundled up with the 2013 ones as he can't break them down?

Having said that, the 2012 figures aren't broken down either so maybe he meant 2012 and 2013 and the 2014 really are missing?

I have XK 2014 figures as 2275 if that helps.

Keep in mind that the the graphics above measure different things: one measures production by year and the others measure sales in the US, Canada, and Europe by month. A car manufactured in 2012 might be sold in 2012, 2013, or even later in some rare instances.

Another question about the above numbers: does not Canada, USA, and Europe represent only some of the markets in which these cars were sold? It doesn't account for Australia, South Africa, China, etc. Granted the USA and Europe would be the largest markets but I'm not sure we can use the three sales figures documents to determine production numbers.

Either way, the X150's are rarer than the X100's. I attribute this two global financial conditions and changing buyer habits. For the X100, it was released in the tech boom and pre-9/11 optimism of the late 90's. After the tech bubble burst, there was a long run up to the 2008 global meltdown. The X150was able to see the benefit of this briefly, but then the rest of its production run would have been affected by a weak and/or recovering economy. In the mid-2000's, buyers started a long process of moving away from large grand touring cars. Younger buyers were looking for more of a hard core sports car (I attribute this to Top Gear and the manufacturer's emphasis on lap times over luxury).
55,000ish cars globally doesn't make them exotic car rare (where even 8-10,000 is considered a HUGE number) but it does make them unique and you won't see one on every street corner. There were more XJS,E-Types, and XK8's made than XK/XKR X150's.

When you factor in your colors and options many of us have some very rare and special cars indeed.

I believe the figure I posted is worldwide and so are those in Thorley (post #5).

I can find no reference to when the supposed 2015MY commenced, but since they are technically the same as 2104MY, and we know what the last cars VIN was, it's a bit of a moot point IHMO...

Worth mentioning again that this is model year, not year of production...

The figures I posted are SALES and not PRODUCTION. This is why the last example of a vehicle that ceased production 24th July 2014 was recorded as sold four years later in April 2018.

As I have a 2015MY, I made a point of finding out.

Starting in 2014, commencement of the Model Year was harmonised with Calendar Year. The new Model Year (MY) had previously commenced in August. The 2015MY began in Jan 2014 with B54165. Only 2,629 of the 2015MY cars were built between January and July 2014.

What I personally am interested in finding out is the following........................How many Coupes versus Convertibles were sold in the US between 2007-2015? There is a thread somewhere that discussed this very statistic but I am unable to find it. Right now I only know that approximately 23,000 XKs (including the XKR,and XKRS, etc) were sold in the US between 2007-2015. Having them broken down into the 2 different body types is of interest to me. I believe the breakdown in certain years is close to 50/50. Any info on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

My XK Coupe is registered as a 2009 model year, and is number 29896. It was manufactured with a 4.2L engine. At what point were these cars manufactured with the 5L
engine?

It depends. Officially from VIN 32753 but I have seen a 5 litre convertible that was manufactured in Oct 08 with a VIN of 31936
