Default Painted the Hubs today ( Image Heavy )

Got round to sorting out the rusty hubs today, well the nearside wheels as I've only got two axel stands. Also tried out the new battery charger to see how much juice it would push to the battery to give it a kick and blow off a few cobwebs. While I was waiting for the rust treatment to finalise I took the time to give her a polish and properly clean the wheels that had come off.

It makes a massive difference. I've included a couple of pics of the offside hubs which are still to be done to give some idea of how much difference it makes.

Not a difficult job but a bit time consuming as you need to wait a minimum of three hours before you can paint them after you have applied the rust treatment.

waiting for the treatment to finish

nice clean wheels

Time for some Italian lubrication

giving the battery a boost

Nice of Jaguar to provide a beer stand on the boot.

front masked and ready to go

rear masked and ready to go

two coats on the front

two coats on the rear

Bit of an improvement - rear

Bit of an improvement - front

all done front

all done rear

looking shiny and rust free

massive difference

offside rear still needing doing

massive difference

offside front still needing doing

Wish I had those Alcon calipers on my 2014 XKR. Why Jaguar never included them in the 2010+ XKR or XKR-S with higher HP is strange.

Looks nice and clean.

Nice job! Thanks for sharing.
Without a doubt, that Italian nourishment was vital to the entire project.

Great job and impressive time - only a 2 beer task.

I see yours has a similar issue to mine with the wheelarch liners. I can understand the better sound insluating properies of the material over the plastic type on the earlier model but the dirt certainly clings to them.

A hard brush shifts it but would be interested to know if anyone has found a suitable dirt-repellant coating.

Graham

Incidentally @SteveX150 , there was no need for you to open up the battery compartment to charge the battery. Take a look at your Owner’s Manual, there is a positive post near then LH rear light cluster, accessed from inside.

Well, I had my doubts about that positive post too. For about the first 5 years. I always had a fear of the positive clamp becoming unclamped and hitting the body. I’m over it now.

Again, for fear of a short, I choose the stud in the spare tire well.

Nice job. I find it interesting (if I'm seeing the picture correctly) that Jaguar went to the trouble of switching the side of the car to locate the battery depending on the driver location.

Think the camera angle fooled you. Battery is on the left, electronics still on the right.
