XKR 2007 Tyres
 

Hello everyone,

Hi need replace on my XKR 2007 tyres (for 20´´ rims). Any suggestion about tyres type, brand and sizes?

I understand your questions..of course tire type depends on ride type..Well i want tires for a secure and comfort ride on national
highway or local streets . Of course giving me some chances to ride with performance on national
highway , not on car track racing.

I pretty much go with Jaguar's recommended tyres. In the UK, the manufacturer-approved tyre has a J on the sidewall, making it easy to know if the tyre is approved by Jaguar.

The tyre is the only part of your car in contact with the ground so I always play safe. I figure the people who know more about which tyres to match with which vehicles are the people who make the vehicle.

My use is normal road use only. Might be different for track use, no idea.

I am using Dunlop SP Sport Maxx (with the J on them) on my 2008 MY XK-R. These are one of the makes recommended by Jaguar for my car (here in the UK).

I run Dunlop Sport Max on 2009 XKR as well. I have also fitted them also to my Alfa GTA after reading a comprehensive comparison test.

my Jaaaaag is not a daily driver and the original rears lifted the tread on the inside due to heat and ageing.

I would rather fit 2020 technology, not 2006 or older to my car. Things have moved on a lot in the tyre world since then.

By the way, for 20 inch rims what are the correct tires specs

I use Michelin PS 4's front and rear. They are expensive, but I have had good results with them. Keep in mind that the patch of each tire that is on the road is all the contact you have with the road.

Although you're in Portugal, you can use the Tire Rack website to compare user reviews and narrow down the best choices of tires for your needs. Michelin, Continental, and other brands sold by TireRack are available in Europe. Here's the link for your car:

Among the most popular brands for the X150 are Michelin, Dunlop, Continental, Pirelli, Bridgestone and Hankook. Prices and capabilities vary a lot.

I don't post on tire questions any longer, as the WORST tires I've ever owned are praised by many people.

Like Ralphwg, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S's. They transformed my car when I changed the OEM Dunlop Sport Maxx's for them. Massive amounts of grip in both the wet and dry.

There may be similar or cheaper tyres out there but I am very happy with them and would buy them again.

I'd be surprised if Dunlop stopped their tyre Research & Development the year Jaguar made my car.

Well of course they don't and that is precisely my point. Manufacturers tend to change the name of a tyre when they bring a new one out. I haven't researched them but they have brought out the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx TT, the Dunlop SportMaxx RT and the Dunlop SportMaxx RT 2 since the Dunlop SportMaxx was designed so I presume they are better tyres.

That seems to be reflected in the reviews anyway.

I doubt that the Sport Maxx tyres I bought last year were made in 2008. Dunlop make various versions of the Sport Maxx and all are currently on sale in the UK. Jaguar are still recommending this brand today.

There are numerous tyre choices and all manufacturers make varying claims for their tyres, all stating theirs are the best, as one would expect. The important thing is that you are happy with your choice of tyre, just as I am with mine.

Those Goodyears are really fast because they haul assmetico! :icon_goofygrin:

I would start with tirerack.
Go through the tires availible, and read the review articles that tire rack writes.
These are very well written, and contain both objective testing and subjective opinion.

I've had three different brands of tires on my Jaguar so far; I have found that those articles have been accurate on the relative characteristics.
