Xkr 5.0 oil gauge major issue
2010 xkr with 100k miles
Not sure if this is the same for everyone but I did an oil change today - the oil meter was showing middle/level ok (after car sat level over night), but only 5L came out. I believe factory fill is 7.5L I added 7.5L and the reading came back full insane to think that half a bar is 2.5L difference in oil https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...0f022bffb.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...62f05b480.jpeg |

You've possibly overfilled the car. The bar represents about 1L of oil. Did you run the engine to make the oil hot first? You need to do that to get a good reading. Here's an attachment from the workshop manual.

What you get out is what is in the sump. What you put back in should be what is required - 7.25 litres. If the level guage is saying that the level is OK , it is probably OK.
As a check, if you are convinced that you are getting to the bottom of the sump with yout pump, remove the oil again and see how much you have. It should be the 7.25 litres, or maybe 7.5 liters in your case. If this is OK, just put it back in. If not look further. It is quite likely there was something not correct about the first reading. Maybe the level guage was reset incorrectly last time. |
As with an old stick oil dipstick, the two lines represent MIN and MAX. Yours was already between those lines and safe. Now you are at least on the MAX line with possibly more since there is no digital "OVERFILLED" indicator.
Me, I'd drain at least half a liter and check again. |
