XKR Alluminium shift paddles

saw a thread some time back, can't seem to find now but it was that someone was working on alluminium paddles , any more updates or has anyone modified theres. The current ones as on my 07 look hidden behind the wheel. Was behind the wheel of a Audi S8 5.2 V10 and it had an alluminium set, noticible straight away, and looked great.

Unfortunately after many false promises of having them completed by the machinest I had chosen, I am left with nothing at the moment. It is such a simple part to make but I think the truth they did not want to admit to is that it was about money. Initially they said they would make me a set for a couple of hundred dollars. Then they raised the price and told me I had to commit to a minimum order of multiple sets. I declined and requested a complete set and if acceptable then I would order more. They relented said said no problem but became more and more unreliable.

Sorry for the long version but I have not given up on the idea just not the time to find another machinist.

You did your best, can't understand why anyone hasn't made a set or extensions by now. You might get lucky somewhere else, i suppose price is a big issue. many others seem to be interested so can't see why a machinist can't run a few off once first set done.
Saw some done in carbon effect for VW paddles on eBay, look OK when on, a very simply and effective idea i think. Was thinking of buying a pair just to see and modifying the part that attaches to the paddle just to see what it looks like.

Does anyone know if the F-Type paddles fit the XK.

Schwabe 07-24-2014 08:17 AM

Yes they fit and are the same, except they are orange. Same plastic, just different color. Also the Evoque paddles fit which are aluminum and come in either silver or red.

If you mean the aluminum silver paddles that show in some R types they are from the XKR-S GT and you can get them for around $400.
I don't see them listed as an option in the R but also not pictured when I build one so I do not know if they standard, an option or maybe just in certain markets.

I got my aluminum GT paddles from Terrys Jag. They weren't cheap but a huge upgrade over the plastic shifters.

Any pics, of paddles MaximA to see effect, is there much space between paddle and wiper/indicator controls.

Scroll down a few posts and you will see the pictures of the paddles. There is a lot of info on different paddles in this thread as well.

Very easy to do. One screw holds them to the steering wheel and a small 2 wire plug to disconnect.

The standard ones are only around $20 each. Spending $500 to gain about a 1/4 inch in height didn't work for me such is why I designed "real" full size paddles in the first place. Ugh it was so frustrating. Anyhow I am determined to find someone just might take a while.
