Default Xkr-s is gone, gt3 is here

I sold my Xkr-s last month to make room for my 2015 991 gt3. I ordered the car in dec (I got one of the last buildable gt3 allocations in USA) and it arrived today. Truly an amazing car- 9k rpm's, 0-60 in 3.0, ring 7:25, but the car is much more than the numbers. I had to buy 2 cars to replace the RS (no back seats in gt3). I think the RS is one of the best cars going and will miss it. I'll still check in on this forum from time to time- a lot of nice and knowledgeable people here. Here's a couple of cell phone pics.

Wow. That's one good looking P car. Sweet looking color and wheels. I'm interested in why you decided on a GT3 and not a turbo S where the turbo S has a back seat. Did you find a buyer for your R-S or did you trade it?

Great car , a lot more civilised and safe than the GT2.
I managed to scare myself silly many times in a GT2 while doing quality control work for Porsche GB.

It's equally possible to scare yourself in the same manner with a GT3 but the car feels a lot safer and more composed.

James,

Congratulations and best of luck with the GT3. If you ever come back to the Jaguar marque, maybe I'll see you again at a future R Academy track day.

I ended up trading my car into carmax. The depreciation on the RS is out of control!
I have had a previous generation 911 turbo and have driven the 991 turbo quite a bit. It's a great car due to its speed, tq, daily drivability, etc. However, the gt3 is a whole different animal-much more visceral and alive and 9k rpm's is such a rush (did that on a test drive). Plus, I figured my kids would be outgrowing the back seats of a 911 soon, so I went for the gt3 and a jeep wrangler unlimited to haul the kids and go to the beach and mountains.

Congratulations and enjoy. I come form a long line of Porsches owned. For me it was exactly the high rpm required to have any experience in a P-car that drove me to Jags. Under 4,500rpms not much is happening. I hope you have plenty of chances to enjoy the high revving engine as even 9,000rpm in 2nd gear will put you well beyond legal limits.

Sweet pics. Those brakes especially are drool-able...

Was a stick an option with the GT3? I know it isn't an option any more on the turbo...

Unless you get a 991 TT - lots of TQ/power even at low rpm. You are right about the gt3 - it needs to be revved high. However, 0-60 is 3.0 according to car and driver. The rpm's climb quickly to 9k!

No manual, pdk-s only for the first time in a gt3. This transmission is one of the reasons I sold my jag and didn't get a auto zo6 or f type R. It's the closest thing to a manual. Lightning quick shifts, paddle neutral function (pull both paddles to go in neutral, then release and clutch engages), no creep when in 1st or R, short and firm throw of paddles. It's quite a bit different than the pdk in other Porsches.
Cayman gt4 debuted yesterday in Geneva- great car and only comes in a manual. However, the car reportedly sold out worldwide in 1 day!

Octurbo: R-S is on its way to me in Virginia. Was hoping I would have it by now but it is on a truck as we speak! Hope to get it this weekend. Thanks for chatting with me about it a few weeks ago. If you have any of the paperwork from it still I would love to have it as I try to document all the cars in my collection if possible. Congrats on the new car..it is stunning!

How about a few photos of your cars all together. That would be nice to see.

Wow... I've never really even been a big 911 person, but that thing is awesome. Great job on the color, looks fantastic. Try not to throw the earth off it's axis with those brakes.

It was nice talking to you as well. You are going to love the RS- the carbon fiber looks great with the white exterior and the red/black interior gives it a more sporty look. It even has brand new michelin pilot super sport tires for you.
I didn't save any of the paperwork after I traded it in.
Hopefully, your RS will arrive soon!
