Thanks for posting. I really enjoy chris Harris' reviews.

Chris Harris is great... thanks for putting that up here. Is it ever just dry in England? Nice catch at 6:10 holy cow.

Looks like loads of fun for an experienced driver. It was, not surprisingly, skating in the wet but, more surprisingly it was nearly getting away from the driver at 6:10+ in the dry too. 7:40 at the Ring is rather decent for this big, heavy car. I could definitely live with one...

thanks for posting,

Albert

7:40 is a pretty good time for a gt car. The Xkr-s does 7:50, so 10 sec faster is quite a bit, but the GT has R compound tires, which may account for 3-5 sec (just guessing there). My old 996 turbo did 7:56, so it shows how far technology has come (and hp) since 2001.

It was a pretty spectacular time just 5 years ago when the then new GT-R ran a 7:38 (probably with street tires), IIRC.

You'll be glad to know Chris Harris personal car is a maroon XKR coupe. One of his videos shows that he hates to wash his cars.
I like him too!

How do you know that? He said in one video he had a 911 GT3 (991), but naturally he might own more than one car. For a while it was a Ferrari 599, but he found it waay too expensive to maintain.

Here ya go Bruce!
Enjoy

Thx for posting...

He is by fare, in my humble oponion, the best current car reviewer... love watching his vids... looks a bit like Freddy Mercury though...:)

BruceTheQuail 11-01-2013 02:35 PM

Yes, the review was good. This was the review that sold me on the XKR, though (if I needed any selling)

Lothar52 11-01-2013 10:27 PM

Agreed!!!!! Love the 175!!

AVMiii 11-02-2013 08:04 AM

The reviewer said that the 175 has a higher top end, presumably just due to a modification of the electronic limiter, also different suspension tuning, but not sure what else. The S and S-GT versions have a retuned engine to up the HP to 550. Is this done on the 175? Hard for me to keep track of the subtle and not so subtle differences between stock XKR, 175, S and S-GT.

I like seeing the child seat in the back of Chris Harrison's xkr. Lol

The 175 is basically an XKR Sports Pack - body kit to improve aero stability, limiter increased to 174 MPH. The 75, which wasn't sold in the US, has most of the upgrades that later appeared in the R-S, but not quite the R-S HP ('only' 530). The R-S has a more in-yer-face body kit, which only increased downforce by 1%, and 20 more HP (550 PS). The S-GT takes it a step further - the guy that developed it described it to me as "slightly bonkers".

Yep, a nice review... the GT really is something else.
