XKR unable to start and on lockdown

Put my XKR into the garage for over winter 2 weeks ago and left it unlocked. Needed to take out of garage but when I went to start car several warning lights came on DSC not available, adaptive front light and check pedestrian system. Car failed to start and has now become unresponsive to any key control action and all the controls are not responding and I am unable to open the boot. At the moment the stop / start button is lit as is the front and rear side lights, number plate light and steering wheel controls but I am unable to switch anything on or off.

Any ideas welcome

Initial thought would be the battery is dead. That being said I would go under the left side rear fender and remove the rubber boot over the battery POSITIVE post. Attach a charger (10 amp or more) and wait until you get a full charge.

Charge the battery via the positive post behind the LH rear wheel at 5 to 10 amps overnight.

If the vehicle is not being consistently driven, it must be locked and the remote key fob kept more than thirty feet away. Install a battery maintainer to ensure the battery is kept to a minimum of 12.6 volts when measured across the terminals.

would all the side lights still be on if the battery is dead ?

The X150 is prone to displaying some odd electrical 'faults' when the battery voltage drops, so yes, it's possible.

has the fact I have left unlocked contributed, I thought that would leave the battery better able to keep a chage as the alarm would not be activated.

The vehicle needs to be locked and the key fob removed to another location so all the modules can go to 'sleep' thereby not causing battery drain.

Thanks for the advice I will get a charger tomorrow and see if that fixes it. would you suggest leaving it on a trickle charge for the duration of the storage period.

1st you'll need to see if the battery takes a charge and holds it. It may be bad and need to be replaced. If it does charge up and hold 12.6 Volts then put it on a "smart charger" but NOT a trickle charger.

Arysue,

What year is your XKR? Your Public Profile shows that you have a 2007 XJR.

Dont buy a battery maintainer until after you read this - the definitive battery thread including recommendations for battery maintainers and how to install them.
