150 door latch adjustment
Hi
How can you adjust the striker plate and the door latch on a 150 DHC? The latch on the passenger door only closes to the first position not the second “locked” position. I’ve adjusted the striker plate on the body jamb as much as I can. The latch appears to operate properly can it be adjusted? Your comments are greatly appreciated.

It could be a wear problem. When I was looking a MG ZA/ZB Magnette cars, built around the same time as the XK sports cars, I noted that wear of the latch striker plate was a problem. I was just wondering if the latches are the same, because Jaguar would not have made their own, they would have used a bought-in product.

Part of the striker plate attached to the body broke and would not allow the latch on the door to close at all. So I replaced it with a new one. They looked identical. The latch mechanism connected on the door side is NLA while the plate that it is attached to is still available. It looks like the plate was worked on at some time prior and put back with non matching screws. I haven’t tried an adjustment there because I wasn’t sure it could be. Maybe the next step is to take it off and see if there’s any play there. I only need about 1/8”.
I feel your pain !! Normally, the adjustment is on the striker plate not the latch on the door, at least it has been that way on all the cars I've looked at over the years, but one nver knows with Jaguar, and especially 1950s Jaguars !
