Positive or Negative ground?

So while perusing the XK's Unlimited website, I noted that there are negative ground parts available for the XK-150. Since I've been out of the game for a while, and as far as i know, when my grandfather and I started this project in the early to mid 80's, I believe only positive ground components were available.

Now, as far as restoration goes, restoring to as close to original equipment as possible (read, using only original parts) maximizes the value of the car, I also realize that a) negative ground is a much more stable configuration and b) negative ground parts are on order of 30-50% less expense.

I would be interested in hearing others thoughts. I'm leaning towards going negative ground...especially if I find that most of the electrics need to be binned (the car has been in the family for over 40 years and has never run).

Switch to negative ground if you are wanting aftermarket radio and such. Positve ground is just as reliable, but you have to watch any equipment you hook up to it. If battery has the appropriate vent cover the only give way to identify you've changed is the red rubber on Positive cable. Really does not devalue the car.

Okay. Thanks. It's just 'pencil on paper' at the moment.

I guess it's going to come down to availability of things needing replacement .
