Wife and l headed off for a week away with son and daughter today, usually drive (about 2k klms each way) but decided to fly this time. Airport is a 3 hour+ drive so headed off in the early hours of the morning and an hour in front left hand found a pothole and hit it HARD.
Trim ring is stuffed rim bent but can be saved but needs stripping again to fit. Same wheel same story last trip 6 months ago which is why l keep a couple of spare trims now.
I wonder what they spend the mountains of taxes and charges on because it is certainly not the roads where l live.

Ouch! Expensive wheels to suffer that kind of damage.

Not confined to Australia. Here in the UK our roads are a network of potholes and never ending road works.

I "know" most of the bad potholes around here, but after these heavy spring rains, there's always some new ones to catalog.

Trying to see them before they come into contact with the wheels helps to keep me engaged in the driving experience, but leaves no time for texting ;)

Some in the UK have been treated to birthday parties...

I thought for a while maybe it was a Fort Worth thing to spread a half an inch thick of asphalt over an old cattle trail and put up a street sign with some congressman's daughter's name on it. Here we pave not for making a smooth surface to drive on, rather its just to help keep the dust down. Misery loves company so I'm a little relieved to see y'all have the same issues in other states and countries.

That is why I am sticking to 18" rims.
