Default 10 Great Movie Jaguars

This is pretty good ... but they left out the XKR in the movie Entrapment and a few others ...

Hey Matt,
Come on, you have never heard of Austin Powers or The Blues Brothers? You have to make room in your Star Trek viewing schedule for some good movies. Austin Powers was shagadelic baby! I am happy to say that I recently acquired his Union Jack Jag Cover.
Yeah, Baby!

There is a data base of cars used in movies.

Shaun of the Dead is one of the greatest movies EVER! It should be mandatory viewing for anyone with a sense of humor.

This brings up an old thread I started a while ago where I had observed that, at least when it came to XK8/XKR in movies, have you ever noticed that the owners were pretty much always successful a**holes? For example Timothy Dalton in Hot Fuzz, Richard Gere in Nights in Rodantha, Matthew McConaughy in Ghosts of Girlfriend's Past, John Travolta's wife in The Punisher, etc.

As I had noted, whenever you saw one of these in a movie rolling into a scene, you could assume that here comes a successful a**hole.

Buttressing Seismic's observation, Stanley Tucci's super a**hole character drives a XK8 convertible in a movie called Big Trouble.

At the end of "The Italian Job" 2003, Jason Statham is driving what I thought was an XKR or XK8. It's definitely a Jag convertible.

Actually it is an Aston Martin DB7 convertible, which makes sense because "Handsome Rob" was always talking about his Aston Martin...especially when they talking while looking at Steve's Aston Martin Vanquish.

I think it is more like what Hollywood says about us people. I sort of take notice when I see cars in movies. For example, there I times when I see a particular car and I know later in the movie it will be involved in some hairy chase scene that leaves it demolished. But the XK8 models seem to be pretty consistently used to tell the audience something negative about the character they are about to meet--it is almost like the car is a character itself.

Doug, I think that you are onto something there. Much more often than not, the character driving a Jag IS an arrogant A-hole. We will all just have to work that much harder to change the public's incorrect perception!

Yeah, things don't happen in a vacuum, particularly when it comes to the big bucks that are invested in putting together a movie. Just like someone is probably paid pretty well to decide what locations to use, it is also likely that somebody who was well-paid had to make the decision for what cars to use. It seems to be written in stone on the casting list that when someone is an a**hole, they should be driving a Jaguar.
