1997 XK8

I'm new to this site, but find it to be awesome! I have found alot of valuable info here, and appreciate it very much. But guys I'm in a jam with my XK8 convertible. I'm currently trying to find another stock radio for it, due to the original one crapping out. But I don't know where to find one. I was trying to replace it with a new pioneer. But I cant find anyone that can complete the job without upgrading everything. My stock radio doesn't have the cassette player and that's the only one I've found. Is there any help for this problem out there? Thank you for any help.

Real Wierd Radio Deck Unit

The earlier XK8s came stock with a HK or Alpine cassette deck unit, so no idea what you have. Maybe a previous owner made a modification which will complicate matters.

How about uploading a picture of your existing deck. Real easy to do on this forum - Hit the red reply button, click on manage attachment, and choose your pic. You have to wait until it reaches 100% before you hit the upload button.

Easiest, and cheapest, method is always to repair what you have and there's always lots of options of repair shops on line, where-ever you are. Make sure you have the security code first. Otherwise the audio fixing shops is right in that the entire deck unit, connectors and cables need to be changed out, but it's not as scary as it sounds. Very home DIY-able taking off the centre console.

I just replaced the radio in my '97. It was the Harmon Kardon style, with Cassette and CD changer control. The radio worked great, but the LED screen was bad. I found the same radio in an XJ ( I think 95-98 used the same radio) model at the pick and pull, and got the radio for $18- a worthwhile bet. I did test the radio at the yard to see if it would function.

I investigated replacing with other radios, but the cost of a fascia, connection cables, etc stated to get out of hand. Besides, the radio sounded great! Here's some of the links I found
