2000 XKR DVD navigation question and speakers
I have a 2000 XKR Conv. That I bought used a few years ago. After I got home I noticed the rear speakers do not put out any sound and the radio fader was set to all front. Is there anything it could be other than either blown speakers or a bad radio? I also have heard there is component that would allow a DVD to be viewed on the DVD navigation screen? I would also like to know how to update the maps in the Navigation system the cost of a new DVD seems a little high and I don't even know if the maps are up to date.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

I've read that the older Alpine nav systems can be updated to 2003 and that discs are available on Ebay. I just bought an '03 and was looking to update mine but the system is no longer supported. Concentrate on getting your tunes fixed as the nav is practically useless for DVD's or anything else. Just my opinion. I wish mine didn't have it, looks like crap.

I didn't add it all up since I bought the components separately and paid for install and the custom fabrication work in a span of several projects over 3 months. I would estimate $3k, maybe a bit more. The good news is I haven't spent a dime on the stereo since then...but I have been itching for the upgraded deck, so I can have a wired microphone...the vert doesn't promote a quite cabin for using the built-in mic at high speeds. It's just too low in the console.
