Default 2002 XK8 airbag light

Hello all....hope I can get some help. I have an airbag light which stays on after a series of flashes. I have a mechanic with a code reader which also has all the factory updates. Code says passenger seat. After he cleared it, no light for two weeks, now its's back. Anybody have experience with this? Thanks for your help.

Default Seat belt

The flashing light is giving you numbers. Mostly starting with 5's and each has it's own issue with the belt. Cleaning the connections under the seat and blowing out the buckle might help.

+1 cjd777 suggestions. The light flashes then stops for 1 to 2 seconds and then flashes again. Don't worry about being quick it will do it 3 to 5 times to allow you to count. You need to count the flashes, the first is the first number after the delay the second flash is number 2. The flashes will wait 3 to 5 seconds and repeat.
Don't get discouraged because you may have more than one problem. The light will clear itself after resolving the problem. If there is more than one problem it will flash again with a new series of numbers.

OK...so I pulled the plug under the seat and tried to see if the connections were bad or something. Also blew some air into the seatbelt buckle. Nothing. The airbag light blinks twice, then pauses for a second or two and blinks twice again. Then there is a pause for a few seconds and series repeats three of four times then the light stays on.

I have attached the airbag code sheet i have. Code 22 is side air bag drivers side. Try checking the wiring and the connector for that air bag.JAGUAR-Airbag-Flashcodes.pdf

Thanks for the lead....I'll try taking the seat out and checking the connections. Just for clarification, when the code says driver side, that is the American version right? and not the British driver's side?

I had this problem, occasionally all summer. Finally went and got some contact cleaner and took apart every connection in the drivers seat. The one contact that goes into the drivers side airbag, a yellow one which requires you to partially remove the seat back driverside cover seemd to be the culprit. On mine it seemed that someone had tried to remove the plug into the airbag and probably do to the confined space did not get it seated and locked in properly. The flashing 2 + 2 code has now stayed away for a coouple of months.

Can someone direct me to the thread on how to peal back the seat cover to access the airbag wiring? thanks!

Problem solved. Thanks to all. You guys are geniuses! Not to mention didn't cost me anything! Took apart the drivers seat and cleaned the contacts and made sure they were all completely connected.

No more Airbag light!

You guys are awesome!

Another related issue that might cause this light is the passenger occupancy sensors, there are three, 1 located on the overhead light, 1 in the A-pillar passenger side, and the one behind the passenger right shoulder. They have metal silver mesh screens over them. If one's connection is loose I think it will blink. My pillar sensor got ripped out my some moron previous owner and now that it's replaced the light went out.
