2003 Jaguar XKR Central Locking Fault

Hi everyone,

I’ve got myself a 2003 XKR but it has some issues with the central locking.

The issue being it doesn’t work.

I’ve also read many posts here and yet still have had no luck.

I’ve replaced the battery and both door catches.

I’ve swapped the 2 relays over under the right hand side and checked the fuses. (UK model)

The central locking doesn’t work on the fob(s) or the inner handles or the key. Although the drivers door opens with the key using the lock.

If the locking is tried, either using the fob or by pushing either of the inner handles then a series of clicks is heard from both doors, but the locks do not move.

Prior to replacing both catches only the right hand door made the clicking noises.

The same noises are made when the car is put into gear, but they do not lock.

Alarm activates fine, boot opens.

I’m struggling to know where else to look.

Does anyone have any ideas for me please.

Could be faulty door latch assembly microswitches. When they get flaky they can cause multiple problems with the door locks and windows....

Thank you

I’ve swapped both catches. (Used admittedly, so could be knackered I guess)

The passenger door catch made no noises prior to being swapped. Only the drivers catch made any attempt to do anything.

Both catches swapped, now both make clicking noises, but don’t actually lock / unlock.
