my driver side door makes a terrible clunk noise when I open and close it. It does this when both part open and at full open. It is coming from the hinge, but I can't find the right spot to lubricate. I know this is silly, but it drives me nuts pulling into a parking space and the the noise frightens people away.

 

My ''04 did the same. The door hinge was loose. Tighten it and clunk went away.

 

And after you tighten the hinges, lube them with white lithium grease. Then lube the hinges on the passenger side....

That's no bad thing.

Make sure the Door Check Arm is undamaged (see item 3):



Although a regular issue on both X300 and X308, the XK8 has an improved design but there's still been a few reports of failure.
