97 XK8 Exhaust System

Looking for recommendations for a new exhaust system to give my "too quiet" ride a more "sports car" sound.

Try dcrautoparts.com

Exhaust mods are always personal choices on sound levels. Stainless upgrades are available too

Try Dave R at this website but be patient when you wait for his response.

Welcome Airborne, I see by your posting count you are a new member. Please take time to post and introduction in the New Member section of the forum ( mandatory). the best way to research the issue is to use the advance search under the SEARCH headding. As a new member you will need to have a minimum number of post before you can use it. Ten I think but it has been awhile since I was new.
The easiest and also the least costly is to remove the rear resonators and replace with a straight pipe. There are many other options and each comes with a trade off, cost, noise level, drone nuisance. I will attach a few of the larger threads so you can get an idea.

Again welcome aboard, have fun, there are a lot of folks willing to help. You can also google you tube for different versions of exhaust mods with live sound.

After a ton of research on this site and with my exhaust guy that works on a ton of high end stuff and restorations. I went in steps.

1st just remove the center and put in x or h pipe. I did H. It was perfect for a quiet, no drone ride with more bite in the acceleration. Perfect for both wife and me.

Then I went with a full cat-back stainless under axle with new 4 inch tips. I reused just the rear mufflers.

Much louder, a small drone at high way speeds, and looks pretty good.

It is absolutely personal preference. This last system definitely is a bit of a show off sound and sometimes feels a bit overkill when pulling out of the driveway. But it does sound saweet as a sports car

Thanks, Mojo. That sounds like a sound solution. I'll look into it.

I replaced the last two mufflers with the Admish kit. Perfect ,easy and inexpensive.
