ABS failure XK8 1999

Hi,

Just bought an XK8 1999, 46K.
I was driving the car yesterday when the ABS light went on and a "System failure" message appeared. I turned off the car at the gas station for a few minutes and turned it on again. The light and error message were nothere anymore. Didn't get this error since then.

I also noticed that the car doesn't go straight, it's laying left or right sightly. Wonder if it's linked to the error messageor if it just needs an alignment.

Thanks

RE: ABS failure XK8 1999

I found at times that improper tire pressure would cause the car to feel a bit out of alignment. I would check that first before going for an alignment. As for the ABS I had a problem with mine and had to replace the ABS control. If I were you I would check your sensors to see that they are clean first and also see if you set an OBD code before spending any time and money. I have heard of people having the ABS control rebuilt. However, I have no ides if it is worth the effort. Good Luck!

I also had the misfortune of replacing the Brake control module (more than $2k). Hopefully it is just a cable between the sensor & the module which will be closer to $100. These electrical issues are not likely to be related to an alignment issue.
Just keep thinking how beautiful the car is and you'll get the kinks out eventually...
