That first knuckle, thick section of pipe at the bottom of my downpipe/CATS is starting to look pretty shabby. Scale and rust, and I am thinking about what might be done.
The area Ive circled in red is my problem area, but this design at that point on this unit is quite different. Hmm, might allow for a throatEr sound, ya think?
The price is right! But ya git what you pay for.

I'd source a used set over putting those on my car, price seems too good to be true. Nameless downpipes look pretty good but $$$. Not sure how factual this is but I've heard of muffler shops welding in higher flowing cats on XKs and making the computer unhappy as well.
I wanted to give my XK8 a better sound so I bite the bullet and bought a Mina under axle exhaust system.
Looks and sounds great with no problem with any of the electronics.
I have the Mina system and an X-pipe and my car sounds unbelievably aggressive, very throaty. I have two videos but the audio isn't close to what it sounds like in person,
. I've let my girlfriend drive the car and listened from the outside, it sounds amazing. I look forward to cold starts endlessly. I'd try this before cats.
I checked the exhaust on my '06 XK8 with 94K miles. Surprisingly it was in excellent condition. THey Cats were O.K., so decision was made to just eliminate the last 2 sets of mufflers(4 total), and replace the tips. The results are quite good. The tips extend a bit farther out due to their straight cut, but sounds very good. WIll try to get a video up, eventually.
