airbag lamp reset

airbag lamp reset
Hi,
I'm restoring XK8 convertible 1997, which I brought from the US as a non runner, needing lot of work tyo put on.
Nowadays it runs and looks pretty good, but there are still some issues I try to solve....
Today I kindly ask for a help with the airbag lamp. I looked through almost all the posts referring to this issue, but could not find clear answer to my question.
My case is, that when starting the car for the first time my airbag lamp was on, then goes off and after few seconds it returns to be on again.
No flash codes at all.
First I found, that the fuse 4 (10A) was burnt, and strict replacement gave no result, as it burned again.
So I looked deep through all the electrics and finally found, that the previous owner put AC internal temp sensor plug into the airbag diagnostic plug, which have to stay empty......
Unfortunately that caused damage to the wirings, which have burned...
I replaced the harness, put new fuse, did the hard reset by disconnecting the battery, touching positive cable to ground for a certain time.
After that I turned the ignition on.
Good thing is, that this time the fuse remains good:-)
Negative - the lamp is steady on again. No flash codes.
And here comes my question.
After rectifying the fault to the harness and doing hard reset should the lamp go off, or do I need to go to a dealer to reset the lamp with diagnostic tool?
Regards
Arek

took a while, as I couldn't find anybody with a scanner, who can read B and C codes.
Finally I had to buy a clone JLR Mongoose cable plus original software offered on ebay UK.
Made it run and found, that there is no connection to SRS module at all. Looks like it burnt due to harness mess.
I ordered used module from a scrap yard, with the same part number. Will arrive tomorrow. Will come back with result.
