Another ABS TRAC light
The ABS TRAC yellow dash light has been coming on my 2001 xk8 . I cleaned the right front wheel sensor but the left one is stuck. Car has 38000 miles with no winters , so very clean. Warning lights stayed off after cleaning, but come on when turning left or right. Warning clears when I turn the car off then on again.... until the next turn. Wiring looks good and clean.

That's a strong indicator of one of the front harness cables having an internal break. The pdf below shows which pins of the abs connector are for cables.
http://jagrepair.com/images/AutoRepa...heet%20XK8.pdf If you disconnect the battery, then the abs connector, have some one turn the wheels side to side while you monitor the resistance to the senders. It helps to have the front end off the ground. This is not foolproof, but may work. A better alternative is to buy a cable and substitute it for first one side, then the other if necessary. The cables connect to the harness on top of the fender on each side. Of course, if you can find some one with Jag specific software they can identify which side has the fault. |
I did the ABS Module solder fix this week and it cleared my ASC/TRAC messages (didn't have an ABS message).
