Antenna connector in trunk / boot

Does anybody know the correct name / type for the connector on the antenna cable in the trunk of a 2004 XK8 ? I am hoping to install a Bluetooth device that needs and in-line antenna connection but can't find and appropriate connector kit

The car antenna connections I have dealt with in the past have all been the coax type. Is that not the case for this one?

Granted, the last car audio unit I replaced was in my 1999 Dodge Ram back in November 2001. Car audio technology has certainly been through several generations since then....

yes it's coax but the connector where the power antenna meets the cable in the trunk is odd. I'm hoping someone here knows what it's called so I can get the correct one. The one listed by Crutchfield and Discount Car Stereo for the XK8 is not correct.

I ended up working with the antenna connector behind the radio when I installed my Bluetooth adapter. That adapter is able to output stereo sound for music (as opposed to phone output), and I installed a separate wired FM transmitter to carry that sound over a pretend radio station at a predefined frequency on the stock radio. I already had to work with some wiring under the arm rest (power, ground, phone mute and phone sound), so continuing the project with removing the radio/arm rest trim was not a huge deal.

Best of luck, keep us posted.

I was hoping not have to tear apart the interior to get at the back of the radio. The trunk area is just so easy to access .

Barry, when I pulled back the carpet passenger side, above transmission tunnel under dashboard I was surprised at the "free" access it gave me to the back of the radio connectons. My mission that day was to find a mounting spot for a gooseneck extension (success) but I sure do remember thinking to myself "wow, if I ever need to get my hands on the back of the radio connectors this would be an easy way."

Give the carpet a yank, it just tucks back in, and see if the antenna connection is accessible. Hope it works for you.

I'll try that with the carpet thanks. But I'm not going in the garage today.. It's 2C with howling NE winds and snow flurries

Barry, if no luck there, Google car antenna adapters. Brings up dozens of photos, many of which look close to your photo. I'm too far away to point to one and determine if it looks like a fit.
