Bashed Oil Cooler

Hey Guys,

So I did some searching here and it seems to be a somewhat common problem of hitting that low hanging oil cooler on the bottom of XKR's, seems like a bad idea hanging something delicate/vital so low. Anyway, just wanted to confirm my suspicions that I need a new oil cooler and also wanted to see if any of you could tell if I need any other parts or if any other parts are commonly required in this replacement. I've seen from the Jaguar diagram there are some "O" rings where the oil lines connect to the top of the oil cooler. Are those a necessary replacement part? They're cheap, like $2.50 but shipping is $15+, yikes!

Anyway here are the photos of my mishap:

It looks like I'm going to have to straighten out the mount. Is that connected to the anti-sway bar? Looks welded on no less. Hopefully it doesn't snap off while trying to straighten.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Paul

On a new oil cooler bracket, the two extensions for the cooler position the bottom of it above the bracket:

Lucky you caught it straightaway. Could have dumped all the oil very quickly.

Such a stupid place to put an oil cooler. I did the same thing years ago.

Thanks guys, I'll take a look. I've ordered a new oil cooler but have to look into the oil cooler bracket that GGG is showing.

Thanks skadmiri, I'll check out your video.

Couldn't agree with you more White out!

This is the (un-damaged) Oil Cooler Mounting on my car. The rectangular blocks at the ends are Rubber Mounts:

PO did the same thing on my car, left one hell of a mess.

Any reason an aftermarket oil cooler could not be used? The piping could be handled with rubber hoses and barb fittings to the stock rubber hose.

Just curious.....

I've done aftermarket a few times..... A Mocal cooler is a quarter of the price and I got a hydraulics company to do the pipework in braided, the only thing I did do was make my own engine take offs but you could use the originals....

What is the name of the fittings the x100 uses?
How many rows in our coolers?
I just had to replace one on a 2005.
