Default What Color is my Interior?

Been trying to decipher it for a while but my trim tag is missing on my 2003 XK8. The color of the leather seats and trim appears to be a light grey to me but can anyone tell me what is the "Official" color name and color code? Need to do some work and be able to match the exact trim colors. Hopefully the pics show up ok. Any help greatly appreciated!

Here's an idea. Go to one of the leather repair stores on line. They have little photos of each leather color and the Jaguar code.

I remember this from the day I ordered a kit. The color was perfect match.

For example Google "Magic Mender Leather repair".

You could try ringing a Jag dealer with your VIN, they should be able to tell you.

It looks quite like mine. Mine is Cashmere.

Is the Cashmere the SDZ code? I've seen some online pics that make the Cashmere look more tan but that can be a trick of the lighting or filters. I had thought that it might be the Oatmeal ADG code but is that a darker gray? To my eye, it is a very light grey.

I have tried some online VIN decoders but they don't seem to get down to that level of detail. This one was originally sold in another state. Would any Jag dealer be able to find that info out? I haven't tried calling the dealer yet but probably need to anyway as I need the radio code as well.

you could also enter the VIN into TOPIX and it can provide details

I'd say: Ivory Leather, Sable Facia.

Do you have to be a business or independent garage to use TOPIX? Seems to indicate so in the user agreement?

I have no idea what color it is. Having said that, you may want to gently lift the front seat belt bolt plastic cover just above where the belt comes out of the retractor. The back side of the cover should have the color code molded into the plastic. I have to use a flashlight and magnifying glass to see it. Good luck.

Thanks Dr. D!
Got so excited that it might have the actual code on something, I went right down to the garage after reading this and pulled the cover off from where the seat belt goes in to the retractor under the body trimwork. I think it's called a seatbelt guide. Letters on the back of the plastic cover were:
>ABS< and GJA-2487 BA.

Does that make any sense? It doesn't seem to convert to a color code to me, or I'm looking at the wrong thing or wrong place.

I can't get a Google hit either. Happy to look up your VIN on Topix as I'm registered on it, will PM you.

No, anyone can create an account as an "independent". But for my 2000 XK8 the details given for the VIN on TOPIX don't include the paint codes.

I was in the same situation as you - my car had been resprayed and the door pillar sticker had been removed, so e-mailed Jaguar (I can't remember who I sent the request to, probably jagcrc@jaguarlandrover.com but amanley2@jaguarlandrover.com was the very nice person that replied) and they told me the factory colours. And the wheel size, too, as that had changed on my car. She didn't tell me the codes, just the names.

The brochure says that Cashmere is quite dark:

But as you can see from my interior that doesn't necessarily give the right impression:

Ivory, in my opinion is very bright bone-white, and oatmeal is much browner.

But your best bet is probably asking Jaguar!

That does not sound like a color code to me either. While I have come across trim codes during interior disassembly, those two covers are the only places I know of that are accessible without tools. Evidently the code is not on all covers. VIN# route maybe the way to go.

Well thanks anyway Dr. D. It was worth a shot. I tried matching it up by color on some of the online leather restorers as mentioned earlier. On one the Dove looked nearly spot on but on the other it appeared to be a much darker gray. And I don't really want to rely on the color translations from the internet, since I suspect you will get variations between cameras, computers, screens and even lighting, not to mention what was actually input on the vendor side.
