Default A/C Evap. Housing access through center dash vents?

Question: Can we access the evap. hsg. through the center dash vents to introduce evap. cleaning and disinfectant foaming solution with the long thin hose attached to the pressure can? The drain holes below seem to be too difficult to access. The drain holes are usual way to introduce the solution. The Drain holes are open and once the foam is introduced, it returns to liquid and drain outs. Just finished another brand of vehicle and results were great. The XK8 has several years of accumulated smells to eliminate. Any other suggestions for introduction points or access to the housing?

I don't have a direct answer to your question, but getting past the vents is not hard. Just pull on the center trim to remove it if you are comfortable you will not crack the wood veneer. There are 2 screws to remove, and the vents come out in one piece. This leaves a big opening. My memory is fuzzy here, but you might have to play with the vent controls to open whatever flap is in the way to the evaporator. I remember looking with a mechanics mirror, and locating the sensor on the core. Should be a 5 min activity.

In other words, I would not fish a hose through the vents hoping for the best. I would disassemble the vents for better visibility. Best of luck, keep us posted.

Jaguar recommended using the fresh air intake for the sedans. I would think it would work for the XK as well.

Here is a TSB for the sedans but you could rig up something for the XKs.

I don't remember if I tried this on an XK when I worked at the dealer?????
