Catalytic converter '97 XK8

My 97 xk8 hast a "tinking" noise emanating from the driver (US model) side cat. conv. It only makes the sound faintly when in park after the engine is revved up and as it winds down. Also, when as the car slows to a stop and the tach is decreasing revolutions of less than 1200 rpms. Are the converters expensive to replace? I've seen them priced online from $97 to $500. What is the difference between these types. I am not in California, which the $97 variety do not conform to the CA admissions as advertised.

Thanks for any input.

Tony

Tony,

I've moved your question from Jaguar Forums Advice / Feedback & Suggestion Center to XK8/XKR forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Advice / Feedback & Suggestion Center is for posts about the forum. It is NOT for technical questions.

Graham
