Check Engine Light/Error Codes
 

Hello everyone, I posted a question last week about fumes in the inside of the car and noone responded. My check engine light is on now. Can anyone tell me what these codes mean. P0455, P1642, P1111? I would greatly appreciat it.

I apologize for the lack of a response to your earlier post, but that is bad if you can smell fumes in the car.

I do not know specifically what that code means, does it say in your owners manual what those numbers mean? Otherwise take the car to the dealership or call jaguar and they will advise you on what to do. Either way you'll probably end up at the dealership, they will run a diagnostic test on your car.

Congrats on the new car, btw...make sure you find a good friendly jaguar dealership they will be needed on your xk8. I know some dealerships are very good, but we go to imperial motors and they are actually cheaper than any mechanic, so dealerships can be good

P0455 - EVAP (system) leak detected – large
Possible causes - EVAPP to ECM drive circuit short circuit to ground
EVAPP failure

P1642 - CAN circuit malfunction (no explanation of "CAN")
Possible causes - CAN short circuit fault
Control module failure – check for additional flagged DTC(s) to locate
control module source.

P1111 - System checks complete since last last memory clear.

There is a TSB for gas fumes in the car.
