Default Those cupholders! Seriously?

Ok, I need to vent here: I've had my 2006 XKR for 6 months (and I really love it BTW): every time I open the dual cup holder on the center console, I'm blown away by how cheap it sounds. I understand the item is an afterthought for "the colonies", but seriously, feels like straight from a yugo!
Anyone here came up with a clever way to either slow down the opening mechanism or silence that ugly noise? I will sing your praise every time I drive this car :-)

Well i think it's a jolly bad show, for a British car (as mine is too), and a Jaguar no less, retailing at £49,000 for a coupe when they first came out in 96, not to have a cup holder in a nation of tea drinkers ( or perhaps just a nation of drinkers )

As for the bidet, i don't think i'd pay the extra for that one

Seeing a bloke on a bidet in the back of a Jag would probably put me off my tea.

You must mean the cup ejectors.

Someday, I am going to come up with a solution for those things.

Finally got my new to me '97 on the road last week after taking a break from the house projects long enough to fix a few needs on the car. Picked up the missus for lunch at that exotic eatery Subway. On the way back I flopped down the cup holder and put our drinks in it... I had to contort my arm to reach the shifter. Even if it worked perfect where it is located, it is still a pain in the *** to reach the shifter.

On the ricer boards which I used to frequent in my younger days, the girlfriends were called the cupholders.

Be very, very careful with that gem of a technical masterpiece. They are all plastic and will break if you yell at them. A PITA to fix. Just wait 'till you spill all your cofffee into the console while trying to operate the shifter or radio.

The Brits need to go to "Japan Cupholder U.".

See, what forethought Jugular has. Pissoir in the front while Bimbette gets 'spruced up' in the rear mounted bidet.
What a car.

So it sounds like the general recommendation is to go for the bidet instead? Will it fit my favorite cup: http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lxd19bVR0p1qm7d4s.jpg

Pretty much, but the best is to fill it with ice - you can get 6 bottles of champagne in one!
There actually was a famous rake who had a bidet fitted in his Rolls - but I'm damned if I can remember who it was and Googling for 'Rake Bidet Rolls Royce' produces some curious results (none from JF I'm glad to report)
