Dent removal

Where most of us would think a new panel was the only solution, Ralf Rathmann demonstrates what can be done for a damaged XK8 with simple tools and a lot of skill:

Sorry Graham, didn't work for me.
Love to see how different approaches get the same results. Hope it's easier than what I do. LOL

Thanks, Graham.
Makes it look sooo easy..

I was expecting the dent to come out but not such a good job that it didn't need filler!

Thanks Graham, that was a treat.

It sure beats using a plunger and a hammer. Bet the tools he is using are not found at Harbor Freight.

Perhaps not HARBOR FREIGHT but they are to be found at HARBOR STREET, St Rafael, CA:

None of the distributors are posting prices on their websites - I expect this kit could make Snap-on look cheap.

I would like to know how much time was required in order to achieve what looks to be an outstanding result....

I had a couple of significantly less serious dents, but still huge cosmetic flaws, removed by PDR (paintless dent repair) method by a true artist here in Portland, OR. Spent $175 dollars and a couple of hours watching...probably a couple of thousand dollars if not more, if repaired conventionally.

That was beautiful work in the vid, top class.

Paintless Dent Removal...

A couple years ago someone dented my Left Rear Fender just behind and below the Gas-Cap door; not as big an area as in this You Tube story....A guy that works for BMW told me to call this Guy, who does Paint-less Body work.. I met him at the BMW Dealer down the Street and we parked back in the Parking lot. He opened the Trunk /Boot and got some tools out of his Pickup....The first thing he did was to push the Fender out from the inside and then went to work with his tools....Within 15 minutes he had the darn thing straighten out and smooth as a Baby's Butt!....No painting had to be done.....I gave him 3 twenty's. He smiled, I smiled back and we both drove off...…………He said it was an easy job as he could get in behind the Dent through the Trunk....If it had been a door, Sometimes he might have had to take the door liner off …..More time consuming the larger the Dent....

GGG,
That's not exactly what I would call a "dent".
A dent to me would be what some ---hole left you in a parking lot when they opened their damn door. :-)).

The small scale, low cost DIY version works well for those "trolley kisses"!

I removed a large dent from my front fender using that harbor freight glue tab puller. Using a slide hammer with the glue tabs worked like a charm.

One caution is the very small feet on the crossbar. You can add twice as many dents as you pull if you aren't careful.

Paintless Dent Repair when done correctly is well worth a try. One of my cars was gently side-swiped and damage to the front fender included dents right on the body line over the wheel well.
$200 later and in any light, at any angle, it is spot-on.The lady who hit me was very glad to pay for it vs. a fender repair and fender and door repaint.
As a result of the same event I had to have wheel repaired vs. replacement. Superb results.

The best PDR gurus are indeed worth the time, money, and effort involved....

That's really cheap compared to the prices I have quoted here for conventional dent repair, I have to look for pdr removal now.
