Different dipstick / oil level for cars running 20 inch alloys?

Sounds Unbelievable therefore probably true or is it?
Someone mentioned that some XK8/XKR’s had different dipsticks which allowed a higher fill level to fix a oil starvation problem due to cornering with 20 inch alloys.
Anyone throw and light on this?
Thanks
Damian

It's like they're saying: you can fill it to 7, 8 or 9 quarts. These capacities may all be correct or incorrect for your engine. You likely won't cause catastrophic damage because the engine has a windage tray if you overfill, but definitely don't underfill. There are three different dipsticks. Find out which one you have and go through the mental gymnastics to figure decide the oil capacity of your engine. No matter what conclusion you arrive at, there's a 66% chance you are wrong.

I think the reference to 20 inch wheels is the start of another urban myth.
The change of dipstick simply coincided with the introduction of 20 inch wheels
There was obviously a concern regarding oil capacity and other than cooler or non cooler all the sump and pickup part numbers seem to be the same so changing dipstick is probably just how they chose to increase capacity slightly. Currently all dipstick seem to supercede to the one part number and any older cars with original dipstick and oil capacity would be pretty safe if still running today.

And I was worried about over fill.
One thing less to worry about.
Thanks for the answers.
Going out to get a new dipstick.😋

I'm glad I'm not alone. :)

Dipstick Oil capacity changes EP43 Jaguar XK8 / XKR (X100)

And to think of how I worried the first time I changed the oil (on my sloped driveway) and realised after driving it to somewhere level later on that I over filled it!!

Interesting video. I have a '97 XK8 with 20 inch Avarus A2 rims and regularly corner the car at 120 - 140 kph on our winding highways. I've never noticed a difference.
I have the shorter dip stick but I'm pretty religious about keeping the oil topped up.

Yes, was a bit of a strange TSB but don’t have to worry to much about overfilling. 👍
