I love to drive it, and drive it almost daily (unless it is snowy or about to hail) so I'm not too concerned with mileage…but it is a little disappointing to see the odometer rolling upward. I've officially put more miles on in 3½ years than the car has seen in the 8 years before that.

I have no worries about putting on too many miles. I purchased the car primarily as a weekend driver and hobby car. Enjoyment trumps mileage!

When maintained well, these cars should be able to clock some good miles, and 300Kmiles should be very feasible with most parts. Have just passed 202Kmiles, and enjoyment is 1st for me, with good maintenance of course.

It's my daily driver and no garage queen. Having too much fun to let it sit. I sold a reliable, but boring sedan to get this one. No regrets. No worries.

Hope to rack up lots of smiles and miles.

Daily driver closing on on 180k.
Still debating whether to go for an '04/05 or 250k.

I only put 5000 miles a year on my dailey driver 1999. But as its just past, 100,000 I dont think that holding off would make much difference to its value.

I wish I still had my old job si I could do 30,000 per year (and justify an LPG conversion)

Never give adding miles a second thought.

I buy a car to enjoy it and expect to take a hit on running costs and depreciation as a consequence.

Dennis,

There's an article in 'The Sunday Times' motoring section today about bargains to be had with high mileage cars and particularly the 100K miles 'psychological barrier' in many buyers minds which knocks the values down.

Thumbs up

I was lucky enough to purchase mine in 2011 with only 49,000 miles.
As I share about 6,000 miles a year between the XKR and the XJS I am not too concerned about the mileage, pure enjoyment from both!

I bought my '99 XK8 Convertible (84K miles) a few months ago for fun and to 'semi-retire' my '05 Honda Pilot (207K miles). The Jag is a persnickity dream come true; the Pilot is a wonderful car; just getting 'broken in'! Miles don't bother me, and the Pilot appreciates its "senior" status as we both get on in years. My commute is 110 miles a day and except for hail and ice/snow - that's where the Pilot shines - I'll commute in the Jag until we all retire in a few years.

That's the equivalent of over five times around the World.
Even with 110 mile daily commute, your wife must be getting suspicious?

I indeed wish that my wife would distribute her daily mileage amongst the other vehicles that were purchased for her to primarily drive (a 2004 Lexus RX330 AWD and a 2005 Jaguar S-Type 3.0). But all she wants to drive now is her XK8. I have to admit that I cannot blame her at all....

I bought my 1998 XK8 with 93K on it and it is going on 96K I have had it a year and a half. I am trying to keep the miles down. I won't use it for any long runs only the local stuff.

It runs really well and it looks really nice inside & out and I want to keep miles undr 100k for as long as I can.

I really wanted a coupe but I found a nice drop top so I bought that instead. I am still considering trading it for a coupe.

I guess once it goes over 100k the gloves are off and I will drive it every where.

My 2000 BMW740il is over 134k and running strong. Miles don't seem to matter if you take care of the oil etc.

I bought my wife her 2000 XK8 conv three years ago with exactly 37,000 miles on it. The previous owner ,who is a friend of mine, sold it since he didn't drive it much. Since then he has had two, both 06 XK8 convs.

The first year we took it on a week trip but have only used it since then locally as her daily driver and for fun outings. It now has 47, 000 miles on it. Have done the upper tensioners and am not looking forward to servicing the transmission but that is coming up. No other major porblems. And yes we both want to keep the car as nice as possible and not excessively increase the mileage. Not concerned about selling it. Just don't want to have any major problems. But she drives it almost every day. Gets lots of complements on the car. One of her friends went home and told her husband she wanted a red conv also. He bought her a Mustang conv new at big bucks. Barbara likes hers much better and is always comparing cars and says "mine is prettier". Another friend of hers went home and told her husband she wanted a car like Barbaras'. He asked what kind it was and she told him, "a Jaguar". He said hell no. Dumb s..t.

No, I have created a real Jag car gal by buying that for her. I have to drive my X300.

In the 27 months since I bought my XKR, it has become my daily driver, and I have put about 44,000 miles on it. It had a little over 60k when I bought it and is approaching 105k now. Maintenance has been expensive and ongoing, however, every morning when I peel back that roof and go about my daily routine, when it's running without all the idiot lights blinking, it's a pleasure. I keep cars until they die, so I am not concerned about the resale value. Outside of the annoying amount of small rock chips to the front bumper, the rest of my car appears almost as new, and I love to look at it as well as drive it. It's a keeper.
