Door card repair
6 Attachment(s)
My drivers door car has been loose at the top back corner since I got the car, I thought I would just have to live with it till I found the post on the replacement clip by "The Coupe".
The palstic insert had broken at some point in the past, I am not sure what the point of the cable tie is. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...ine=1368909341 The new clip is available from Jag. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...ine=1368909341 I marked the position and then removed the old clip with a flexible knife. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...ine=1368909341 The clip came off no problem. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...ine=1368909341 I used 2 part epoxy glue to stick the new clip on. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...ine=1368909341 Clamped for 24 hours. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...ine=1368909341 |
Nice job, did same clip on my drivers door!Previous owner had used tape (clear) to hold the card in place~yuk
Good to see Araldite still kicking, haven't seen it since I lived in Luton lol! |
Did the same epoxy fix on the same post in the door 'card'*. I also added four 3" x 8" strips of dynamat on the inside of the door skin. Also used a zip tie to hold down the long rod running from the inside door handle to the latch mechanism. Anything that rattled got muffled, tied down or wrapped.
