Default Upper Ball Joint stuck

I am using the above tool which is what the workshop manual advises. And it will not budge. I am using so much pressure and so far nothing. I was at the point of using a breaker bar but stopped short in fear of breaking something. I have given up for the day but am soaking it in penetrating fluid and will let it sit over night. I have hammered it some but not easy to get a swing at. Not really a good place to try a propane torch. Help!!!!

Use two hammers and try to time the hit on each side of the A arm.at the ball joint position.
Last resort, buy a hammer air tool, leave the nut on and give it all you got.
If it's worn really bad, it's not hitting on a solid base inside the shell.

Can you get a pickle fork in the joint?

The ball joint is good so I would like to save it. If the pentrating oil fails then time to break out the hammers and bang away. Using a pickle fork would be a last resort as having used them in the past the ball joint seal seems to always be ruined.

David this brings back memories. I had to use a p fork, also learned the difference between good ones and the autozone rental one.

I posted comparisons photo of the 2 back then. If interested search under my name, I created the thread. Mate the tool you pictured was destroyed long before I got to the p forks to finish the job.

IME you're maybe worrying too much about scaring the boot. But your call. You know what? I'll find the photos stand by.

David, here is some info about my battles with that same ball joint. If you go with pickle fork, see photos. There was a world of difference between the Snap On fork i borrowed from my mechanic and the nearly useless one from auto zone.

You may have to sacrifice the ball joint to get the job completed. 2 steps back for 3 steps forward. I understand were your coming from but you can't always get it to go you way. Good luck, TM
