Front shocks replace or not?
I took some photos of the front suspension cuz I'm planning to do a complete overhaul. Currently, @ 83k miles.
One thing I'm not too sure about is the shocks/struts. I was expecting leak stains in the middle of the shock tower, if leaks, not at the bottom. Would you consider replacing both shocks? https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...85558c5de6.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...608812c412.jpg The upper shock mount has no question about replacement and it will be Wayne's for sure. The current height is quite low at 14.56" (front) & 14.96" (rear). https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...d88fd4d3c8.jpg CAT shocks are super expensive, as you know..... decision time! Opinions, please. Many thanks! |
The cat shocks look in very good condition (all most new)....
My opinion (for what its worth) is they are not leaking, the stains at the bottom are from some one spraying some sort of penetrating fluid, the bush bolt looks like its new and possibly suggests some one has done some work in that area. |
I agree with XKR-DAY. Don’t automatically replace the shocks without more examination.
If they do need replacement, and if one can afford them, I think replacing the adaptive shocks with the exact OEM replacement will help your car hold value better. And the adaptive system is good one when all the parts are working as designed. As good as the XK8 Bilsteins may be, the adaptive Bilsteins are better and not a compromise. Z |
