fuel tank capacity
Hi,
I went for a cruise yesterday and decided to return home rather than continue into town for fuel. Normally I fill up @ 1/4 tank but yesterday was different. The yellow fuel light was on, pulled into the station this morning and put in more gasoline than I thought the tank's capacity was. First thought, incorrect metering at the sattion but then...I figured I should ask those that know. My filler clicked off at 16.389 gallons (us). What say the brain trust? Was I on fumes and the tank holds this much or other? thank you for your time wj |
You were fine :)
Tank capacity is ~19.9 US gallons, ~75 litres or ~16.5 imperial gallons. https://www.thecalculatorsite.com/ar...al-gallons.php |
The light goes on with 2 gallon left.

You had plenty left. The trip computer has a RANGE display function which calculates how many more miles you can travel on the remaining fuel. I rarely run a tank below half but discovered it's possible to go at least 7 miles more when RANGE reads zero after desperately searching for an open petrol station on a Winter's night in Yorkshire. Graham |
Yes, when my range read zero I traveled another 6 miles to the next gas station....

+1 on the range.

Since I eventually plan to upgrade the fuel pump and am looking for an excuse, I put in 17, 18 or more gallons in mine all the time. Filling at 16 gallons is probably best for long term pump life.
