From funny to 'not so much'.

Earlier i had posted a funny story about a broken down xk1 something. This evening my daughter got caught in a torrential rain and drove through high water. The car started running badly so she pulled into a McDonald's parking lot. And then as she was on the phone with me she exclaimed, "oh my gosh! It is gushing brown stuff!" She immediately shut it down, but not before most of the contents had dumped into their parking lot.

I had her start it briefly when i got there, and there is a hole punched in the center of the oil cooler. Weird spot.

We've spent the last hour and a half trying to clean up the mess before getting a tow home. What a night...

Good girl, you taught her well. Sure saved the car.
Surprised she is not in the garage helping you on the head.

Something floating in the deep water

Daughter had bad luck to hit something floating in deep water. Must have been big to damage the oil cooler.
She didn’t do it intentionally and you trained her well to spot the problem and not to drive without oil.

good luck on the fix

She actually is a big help in the garage. She helped with all of the teardown and has dug in and got her hands dirty many times in the past. Hard worker!

Many priorities later, I finally got the jag back on the road. No worse for wear after what ended up being near total oil loss. By near total, I mean when I drained the sump, I got about 2 tablespoons out. No joke!

Reminded me of an old TV program, Seconds from Disaster.

Twenty years ago I bought a 71 Corvette to restore. Thought it would be a good project for my 10 year old son
and I to do together. Who would of thought it was my daughter who spent her free time helping me. Today she knows her
way around a car better than most of the boys her age, including her brother. And she is killer with a stick shift.
