:( gear box fault - resolved
Time to see how good the warranty is on the tranny rebuild! Driving home today - went to accelerate from a stop - clunk, gear box fault
read codes and am getting a P1747 - assuming the 99 codes are the same - pressure regulator 3 malfunction - can I reset or should I reset?
Would it be safe to drive to the shop (10miles) or get towed?

Five pressure regulator solenoids should read between 4.8-6.8 ohm
The three shift solenoids should be between 25-35
Transmission to TCM pressure regulator (3) circuit, open, or short circuit
Transmission internal pressure regulator (3) circuit, open, or short circuit
Pressure regulator (3) failure
Please check fuse #4 (5 amp) in the smaller engine management fuse box in the engine compartment and fuse #1 (10 amp) in the larger engine compartment fuse box, check your brake booster hose and all areas for vacuum leaks.
This is a very common issue, you might even get away with clearing the codes by removing the neagaitve cable and touching to the positive for 30 seconds

Steve, the light on for high temp came on in about a month. I had a one year warranty so I took it back to the shop. The tranny was rebuilt by another shop and the price for the rebuild included reusing the existing harness, not a new one! The valve body was replaced in the rebuild as the old one had a crack. Due to the very high cost of the Jaguar tranny fluid I decided not to have the harness replaced. It would trigger every month or so but cleared with a restart. Now it has been about a year since it triggered, hope it says that way! Yes, others should be aware of the harness issue in rebuilds.

Craig, I had the tranny rebuilt a few months back and they reused the old harness. One of the connectors on the harness was damaged causing a short - which was seen as a pressure fault in the valve body. they put in a new harness as part of the rebuilds 2year warranty - so far so good!
as aode06 mentions, the connector on the cable harness is garbage. It may be good for a few years but over time (14+years, 132650miles), just like some of the other plastic parts, the heat they are subject to causes them to break down.
