Got An Oil Change The Dealer Says Oil Lines Leak When Brought My Bill They Want $900
So I had the dealer change my oil at there sale price under $50 and when they finished changing the oil they brought my bill and says the tech said oil cooler lines leaking and they said it would cost $900 to fix this. Is the dealer tryna run a game on me ? I had my oil change done by them last time as well and this is the first time they telling me this. I declined the work by the way. They recommended this job gets done.

The oil cooler hoses are known to split right near the crimp to the aluminum pipes. See https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...er-hose-50378/
You may be able to see it from the front underside if you want to inspect it for yourself.
The new ones are an improved design. If the leak becomes a rupture you could run your engine dry...this needs to be addressed. If I recall, there are four hoses to do the whole set, and it is around $500 in parts alone.

If your dealer is on the level, he is giving you good advice. These hoses carry up to about 80 PSI of hot oil. If one bursts, your engine can lose oil pressure and may be destroyed if you do not immediately notice and shut it down. This is serious.
No one can say for sure, but if it is leaking, it can just dribble for months, or it can burst. But you are taking a gamble by waiting.
Certainly it is smart to get a second opinion.
There are four hose assemblies. If one is bad it is good preventative maintenance to change all four, even if only one is leaking. That is probably what your dealer is proposing...but you should verify that.
If you are short on funds, you can have them only replace the one(s) that are leaking or look like they are deteriorated.
There are 4 hoses: The list prices are $109, $182.50, $117.75, and $109. This is about $580 total in parts at dealer list. So they are charging you about $320 in labor.
You might do a little better at an independent, but it will not be dramatically less if you do all four.
