Hard reboot question

I have a daily driver that is a '99xk8.

I understand that a hard reboot is necessary after completing certain repairs or cleaning. In each such post, I see a requirement to reset the power windows, but, I've also seen some posts saying that the codes might have to be reset for the radio to work again.

How does one reset codes, specifically for the radio?

Additionally, my seat controls on the driver's side have failed. The seats are not heated. Could a bad fuse cause this? Where is the fuse box?
(I never said that I was mechanical, but I'm willing to start making some
repairs on my own to save some bucks

And, lastly, what years does the JITS cover?

Thanks in advance for helping me on these very basic issues.

The radio code was given to the original owner, normally on a plastic credit card style kept inside the manual/hand books wallet.
If you dont have it, very easy to come by, just call a dealer and give them the last 6 digits of your VIN/Chassis number and they will give it to you, if they want to charge you tell them to get lost and PM your number to me and I might be able to get it for you, not sure if my system will cover US bought cars.

Re your seats, could be a fuse, which I beleive you will find in the end cover of your dash, check your handbook for which number.

JTIS will cover all model years.......Good luck

I know in the UK, those codes are common, but in the US, by the 99 MY, i am pretty sure we don't have codes to worry about. confirm though...

You learn something new every day :)

In the UK we have radio codes through all MYs, we obviously have more thieving b***:icon_razz:**ds than you guys :icon_wink:

Fuses #1 and #8 provide operating and control power respectively in the left and right fascia fuse panels. If you find a fuse blown be aware that there have been experiences of pinched wires under the seat. The most common issue is with the seat control module. Driver and passenger modules can be swapped to verify if that is the issue. Located at the front center under the seat and held on by two 10mm nuts. Some can be user repaired. See this link:

My 2000 has the premium radio which does require a code to reset. Thank goodness the plastic card was in the glove box/owners package.

As I've already discovered on several prior occasions, the members here possess a ridiculous amount of knowledge. Thanks again for the help, guys.

If I keep this up, I'm sure to become a junior mechanic of sorts.

The repair videos that members have provided are amazing. They've given me
a lot of courage to do some of my own repairs and save some big bucks.

Weird, my 2001 XKR came with the code cards, but I had the radio unplugged for days and never needed to enter it.
