Help with dash bulbs, please.

I need to replace a few blown bulbs in my dash and would obviously like to do them all at the same time while I have the dash in bits. Can someone please give me the reference numbers for the following bulbs, so that I can order a bunch off eBay:

- bulb in the climate control temperature display, centre console
- bulbs used to illuminate the main instruments in front of the driver
- bulb used in the green 'dipped beam on' warning light

Thanks.

whiteXKR may be able to help you on a couple of those, maybe all. He and the Reverend have 'bulb' experience. :)

I know how to replace them, I just don't know the bulb part numbers. I'm pretty sure the instrument bulbs are 194's. I don't know what the rest are. I DON'T recommend replacing them with LEDs, however. I tried that the the LEDs were lousy.

If you can't find what you need where you are, here is a source that can probably supply everything.

Autolumination Instrument Panel Light Bulbs & Lamps

161 or 194 are good for the larger instrument panel bulbs. (161s will last longer).

I do not know the others offhand, but the site that Max referenced is really good if have the bulb in hand....especially this page:
Automotive Bulb Visual Finder

Don't overlook the dealer...I have found the OEM bulbs are not that expensive.

Many thanks for your help, guys. I would willingly go to a dealer, even if they charge a few cents extra, but unfortunately my nearest one is in Belgium :)

I will check out the website you gave. Many thanks.

I think the part for the climate control illumination is LNA 5180 CA (blue base). Reason I'm unsure is I also replaced bulbs in the switch panel below and I can't remember which of the two bulbs I have is definitely the one. The other bulb has a brown base and is JLM 11965. If you take out the climate control panel you'll immediately see which colour base you need. I'm reasonably convinced the blue base is the one you need.

easy, but because of two spinal surgeries,.i need to outsource the instillation. as expected jag won't touch 'em because their after market
parts. finally found a place to do the work, snd when bulbs arrive he wants to make sure their the correct bulbs. if this ever gets done i'll forward the info i gather

When replacing the bulbs on the instrument panel there are 2 very large electrical connectors, one on each lower side that you have to disconnect and reconnected. These two connectors carry most all the communications for the car including the "start". Be extremely careful when reconnecting and locking the connector in place. While I have done this several times in the past here recently I had a no start problem and 4 pins inside this connector where bent and not making good contact and would not allow the car to start. The strange part was that the no start happened about a month after changing bulbs. Evidently there was some contact made but failed along the way. It took several conversations and a week of diagnostic work to figure out.

Your 2011 XKR is a completely different animal than the 1997-2006 XK8/R. Please post your question in the correct group for your car.

The ones for the temperature display are LNA5180CA. Jaguar price is around $14 each - ridiculously over priced. I broke down and bought some from another Jaguar Parts retailer (~$10 each) because they are unmarked and I could not find specs for them. I had bought some other ones mentioned in another post (very cheap) but that were unsatisfactory (not bright enough). I metered and measured them the Jaguar ones before installing so I could find a substitute. They are a neo-wedge bulb rated 14 volts and 100 mA (milli-Amps). Anyway, get the bulb number KT925 (KT925 14.0 100mA T4.2 (White Base)) at $15.99 for a box of 10: Japanese Dash & Indicator Bulbs. If you don't want a box of 10, go to his numerical listing page and find the KT925 at $2.60 each here: Candlepower Numerical Bulb List. I bought some and they are a good substitute. A lot of the other bulbs in that assembly appear to be his KT891 14.0 80mA T4.2 (Gray Base) which is a tiny bit less bright. There are enough bulbs it may be worthwhile to buy a whole box of 10. I didn't replace them all, only the ones in the Temperature display, and now the one that illuminates the rear fog lamps switch (so you can find the switch in the dark) is out (not to be confused with the LED that indicates the fog lamps are on and which is working). That one can wait!
