Default Help with fascia lights flashing at night.

I've noticed recently that at night when the fascia back lighting is on, when I slow down to a stop, or sit at a light, the fascia and center console lighting blinks out very randomly and not every time. But starting to become more frequent. It's not happening with the the exterior lighting or stereo.
I do have a new battery so it's not that.

Put a new 15A fuse in position #7 of the fusebox on the end of the driver's side fascia and see if the situation improves.

philhef,
This happened to me the other night for the first time. Honestly, I thought I was imagining it or that I was blinking excessively. It has not happened again since, but it's something that I'm concerned will get worse.

This happened to me last year. I was afraid that the alternator was acting up and possibly would need to be replaced. My HID low beam headlights, however, seemed pale and gave off yellowish light. I promptly replaced both sides with new bulbs and the problem went away.

Well, now they're flashing running or stopped. Only the fascia. Not the exterior.

Not being familiar with the circuitry, if this was happening to me, the first place I would be looking is either a bad earth connection common for the lights, or possibly dirty contacts in the actual dimmer unit control unit. When the lights start blinking again, try adjusting the brightness and see if this momentarily rectifies the problem. if it does, then my logic would be dirty contact in the dimmer control.

What say the Vets? Is this plausible or am I way off track here?

Jaguar Technical Hotline used to issue 'tech tips'.
The May 2002 issue had a tip regarding the INST PACK illumination.
Please read and see if it pertains!!

Tonight, I started my car and immediately the dash lights started blinking. I turned the rheostat while it was happening just to see if it had any effect, but it worked normally dimming and/or brightening the dash depending on how I turned it. Lasted about 30 seconds, and as soon as I started driving there was no more blinking. As with Phil, only interior dash lights blinked, not exterior.

Keep an eye on it. Mine started that way, only flashing at intermittent different intensity flashing when I first turned on or came to stop at intersections it eventually started doing it while driving as well. I'll try the dimmer to see. O Lu thing that throws me is that it's not the lower center console lights. Only the. 6 upper fascia gages and instruments. I would think the dimmer would cause al the lights to flash.

That is not what you said in your first post

If that is the case I would first try to spray the two instrument cluster connectors with contact cleaner (with the battery disconnected!).
