Horns Resolved

Hi all, for info.

All of a sudden my horn, or actually my XK8's horn quit. I suspected the contact in the steering wheel as this is the only moving part in the system. But putting on the alarm didn't sound the horn neither, so it had to be something else. Checked fuses and relay ok, and also checked power comeing all the way to the horns (2).
New horns from JPEC $ 190, from England £ 72 and I didn't dare to ask the Jag dealer here.
Bought a pair aftermarked ones looking exactly the same as the originals, which were french by the way. Total cost NOK 139 equals $ 23.:icon_speaker1::icon_band:

Good result on the horns. :icon_beerchug:
I thought the Security System had an independent Sounder (horn) (see item 4):

Attachment 49190

Information on the Security System isn't available in JTIS but it seems logical the alarm Sounder can't be silenced simply by pulling a fuse.

I thought so too, so I was somewhat surprised to find out the alarm used the "normal" horns. Btw, this is a US spec car.

When the anti-theft alarm is triggered the system flashes the turn signal lamps, and sounds the horns, anti-theft
alarm siren or a combination of both (Market dependant).

The one you have indicated Graham, is the anti theft siren. The above statement is from my manual.
