How hard to install new shockson XK8?

Just got the Bilstein shocks, (2002 XK8) and was wondering if its something I can do myself? My normal mechanic said he is to busy. I am pretty handy, and have changes shocks on many US models before. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

The project is much more complex than just jacking up a car and removing the shock.

On the fronts you need to remove the upper A arm by pulling out the fulcrum nut. Not terribly difficult, but you must be careful to keep the shim placement exactly the same when you reassemble. These shims set your caster. They can also be very reluctant to reinsert as you feed the fulcrum bolt back into its location. Once you get the hang of it, it moves pretty quickly.

XK8 shocks are part of the spring assembly. You also need a good spring compressor, and I dont mean the $29.95 model from Summit Racing. You need a good professional model.

I dont know the rears. Hope this helps. gordo
